Join us for a four-day Out of Classroom Experience where you’ll dive into the world of local government and see how decisions that shape our community are made. A highlight of this program will be visiting the Maui County Council’s Residency Area Office on Lāna‘i, where you’ll learn firsthand how the government works on this unique island. Along the way, you’ll explore the real issues facing Maui County today and discover the important role you can play as a resident in shaping the future of your community.
Highlights
Travel on the Expeditions Maui–Lāna‘i Ferry for a day trip to visit the Maui County Council’s Residency Area Office on Lāna‘i
See local government in action and learn how decisions are made that shape island communities
Explore real issues affecting Maui County and engage in thoughtful discussions about solutions
Meet local leaders and gain insight into how community voices influence policy and change
Discover ways to get involved and make a positive impact in your own community
Experience hands-on civic learning through site visits, conversations, and interactive activities
Build leadership, communication, and advocacy skills to help shape the future of Maui County
Transportation
Seabury will provide transportation if needed. Students are allowed to be dropped off by 8:30 am and picked up by 2:00pm at the location. Execpt on the day you go to Lana'i.
