Description
Step into an unforgettable four-day adventure with the Maui Hero Project where FEMA disaster
preparedness and wilderness survival meet personal growth. Students ages 13–18 will earn
CPR/AED and First Aid certification, practice search and rescue operations, and learn how
to establish and manage a basecamp using the Incident Command System—the same
framework used nationally by first responders. Alongside these critical readiness skills, students
will learn ocean safety through lifeguarding, snorkeling, spearfishing, and fish filleting with

catch-and-cook meals, while also building confidence through wilderness training in shelter-
building, fire-starting, and ethical hunting practices. From waterfall rescues to bowhunting

training and pig-trap construction, the Maui Hero Project now in its 26th year develops
resilience, leadership, and teamwork. The program culminates in applied multiple survival
challenges—mock hunts, hands-on deer butchering, active-shooter paintball, waterfall
hikes and cliff jumps. With all gear, meals, and transportation provided—and an overnight
camping experience in individual tents—this immersive camp equips teens with both
practical survival abilities and the mindset to face real-world disasters (from hurricanes to AI)
with confidence and responsibility.
