Buzzing with Purpose: The Art and Science of Beekeeping
Where would our world be without the incredible pollinators that keep our gardens and farms thriving? In this hands-on Winterim program, students will dive into the fascinating world of honeybees through a full beekeeping curriculum—from starting and caring for hives to harvesting and processing honey. Alongside their work with bees, students will explore the vital role pollinators play in our ecosystem, participate in a comprehensive farm tour, and get their hands dirty in the soil through farm activities like prepping beds, planting, and harvesting with our experienced team.
Highlights
Learn the fundamentals of hive setup, maintenance, and bee health
Harvest and process honey while understanding its natural production process
Gain insight into pollination and sustainable agriculture
Participate in farm-to-table activities including planting and harvesting
Engage in hands-on learning through farm tours and fieldwork
Transportation
Seabury will provide transportation if needed. Students are allowed to meet at the location by 8:30am and depart by 2:00pm.
