Description
Dive into the world of professional art-making and cultural storytelling in Art Winterim. Throughout this four-day experience, students will learn directly from celebrated local artists in their studios, explore iconic landscapes, and experiment with diverse mediums- from acrylic painting and landscape drawing to relief printmaking and mixed media. By translating personal reflections, local flora, and traditional motifs into original artwork, participants will build core technical skills and present a final piece in a culminating exhibition.
Highlights
Day 1 — Studio Painting & Foundations with Wendy Romanchak: Tour Upcountry artist Wendy Romanchak’s studio, observe demonstrations on composition and light, and practice layered acrylic or watercolor techniques.
Day 2 — Cultural Art & ʻĪao Valley Sketch Journey: Connect with master Hawaiian artist Phil Sabado in Wailuku Town to study traditional cultural motifs, followed by a guided landscape sketching trip in historic ʻĪao Valley.
